Manama boasts a rather small number of lively pubs, all of which are attached to hotels. Clustered around the Adilyia area, these mainly Irish and British pubs host regular theme nights, live music and comedians, while managing to squeeze in a little space for dancing. Ladies are very welcome and can often drink for little or nothing. Although Bahrain’s pubs fail to recreate the cosy feeling of a local village pub, they do appeal to an extraordinary mix of clientele and on weekends are usually jam-packed. Major sporting events are often shown on large screen TVs and the atmosphere is always welcoming and friendly toward both sides. Manama’s few pubs offer a lively, if rather noisy, place to sup a pint or two.
