The Edge is so utterly chic, the food so good, and the tone so totally reserved that it may feel like a place to discuss big deals or risky mergers and not the spot to quibble over popular TV. Presumably once this stylish restaurant draws in the DIFC clientele it will be the spot to get down to business, but, until then, the hushed environment and pinpoint service are reserved for a handful of murmuring patrons.
The reception area, which is monitored by staff dressed in a suitably dapper grey uniform, is a warm-up to The Edge experience. A grey corridor with a sliding wall opens up to a rather ostentatious library and lounge area where you can enjoy cocktails and canapés before your meal. Two lifts take you up to the dining area, which is separated by more smooth grey walls and red velvet curtains, which enclose large circular dining tables with high-backed chairs – perfect for large groups.
Every detail in this restaurant has been deliberated to ensure a formal and professional a reception as possible. The service is sharp and the food is as pristinely presented as its surrounds.
The contemporary menu varies depending on available ingredients and whether you have been before – if you have, the chef will ensure you have something different. You can try the business lunch menu with four dishes for Dhs.400, six courses for Dhs.600, eight courses for Dhs.800 or the chef's tasting menu for Dhs.1,200. Reservations are essential.
