Probably Ireland’s foremost independent bookseller, Books Upstairs is known in the city as a heavily academic bookshop. In addition to books, cultural magazines and journals are also on offer and prices are truly as good as advertised. Teachers and lecturers are also in for a treat as Books Upstairs specialises in bulk buys for classes, which means that students reap the rewards as well. Browsers should keep a tight hold on the purse strings, however, as every visit seems to unearth a treasure that shouldn’t be left behind. Open from 10:00 to 19:00 Monday to Friday, Saturdays from 10:00 to 18:00, and Sundays from 13:00 to 18:00.
