When moving into rented accommodation you should be prepared to pay the deposit and a month’s rent in advance. If you are using a letting agent which charges tenants, make sure you know how much their fee is and when it is payable. If your rent is exclusive of bills, find out how often you will be paying utility and water bills and how much council tax (p.72) you will be charged (council tax can be paid annually or monthly).
